Monash Net Zero Initiative - Industry Immersion Day

On the 5th of May 2022, Members of the Brentwood Green Team and Students studying Year 11 Environmental Science participated in a tour and workshop led by the Monash Net Zero Initiative team and Monash Tech School. During the tour, the students were taught about the various projects and plans that Monash University Clayton Campus has implemented and the microgrid emission-free mini-city.

Later in the afternoon, students engaged in a hands-on problem-solving session where possible innovative solutions to solve Brentwood’s waste, water, energy, biodiversity, and other general environmental issues were explored and a plan was created to implement them. The students who were provided with the knowledge and experience of industry experts, explored future career paths and received advice on project management, targeting student demographics. Also, a large-scale technological solution was discussed to digitise Brentwood’s emission offsetting data and work towards improving the ‘Towards Zer0 Bremissions’ project.

We would like to thank both Monash University and Monash Tech School for such an amazing opportunity for us students to see real-life large-scale applications of the Net Zero initiative and for assisting us on our journey to grow our knowledge as students.
